dry needling

Dry Needling uses filiform needles inserted directly into a myofascial trigger point which helps the fibers to relax, allowing increased blood flow bringing oxygen and nutrients to the area as well as clearing of waste products that accumulate due to the restriction. This can decrease pain associated with the area and create a healthier healing environment for the muscle. Secondary benefits include pain reduction by stimulating nociceptors (pain receptors) throughout the muscle targeted by this treatment. It is known that the neural and musculoskeletal system are closely intertwined allowing this technique to treat both simultaneously.
