Joy P. Yao

PT, DPT, COMT, SFMA, FMS

Joy Yao has been a practicing PT for almost 23 years and is a Florida native, returning to the area in 2018. Joy started her personal journey of movement through dance. She received her BS in Exercise and Sport Science from University of Florida in 1997 (GO GATORS!) where she also danced with the UF Dance company, and received her Master of Physical Therapy in 2000 from Temple University. She then went on to study at Nova Southeastern University where she received her DPT in 2018.

She has experienced many areas due to her husband’s service with United States Navy. Along the way she obtained a Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy, becoming a rehab based Pilates instructor through Polestar Education, Dance education and work with performing artists through education with Harkness and at the Pensacola Ballet. She is also a health coach, trained and certified SFMA, restorative yoga, Graston, additional manual therapy training, rock tape certification, Movement Specialist, myofascial training and education and myofascial cupping. She is currently finishing up certification in Craniosacral Therapy, Strain Counter Strain and strength and conditioning. In addition, pursuing more training to better serve all populations but especially those recovering from concussions.
